According to Lussier and Hendon (2019), training is the process of teaching employees the skills necessary to perform the duties of a job. Therefore, Organizations train employees to provide them with the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs).Whereby they will need in order to succeed in their work for the organization. Employee development is ongoing education to improve knowledge and skills for present and future jobs within the firm. Both training and development are part of talent management. which begins with recruiting and selecting the right employees and continues through termination of employment.
Training and development are an integral part of talent management. This is because employees who are trained and developed are motivated, engaged, and more likely to be retained. However, the type of training offered is based on the competencies employees need to have in order to perform their jobs successfully. Also Competency models identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) needed. in order to perform a particular job in the organization. Also the types of training a new employee or one who changes jobs will need.
There are five steps in the training process: 1. Assessing the needs for training and development 2. Selecting how to shape behavior through training and development 3. Designing the training and development 4. Delivering the training and development 5. Assessing the training and development The final presentation focused on the first step, which is the needs assessment.
