Theoretical Case Analysis Paper. This assignment relates to EPAS 4 and 7 and the Knowledge, Skills, and Cognitive/Affective Processes dimensions. One purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate students’ competency in critical multi-dimensional (bio-psycho-social-spiritual factors) assessment of clients. Another purpose is to show application of theoretical frameworks to understand clients. The paper has been split into two parts based on each of the purposes mentioned above. Each student will also demonstrate critical thinking in this paper.
This case analysis is based on an interview with a client or other person. Students who are in concurrent field placement are encouraged to select a client at their field agency with whom they are familiar or have access to their file. Alternatively, students (especially those not in field placement) can select a friend or family member or other person. The person selected optimally should be a member of an at-risk, vulnerable, or oppressed population group.
PART 1: Introduction to patient and Bio-psycho-socio-spiritual assessment. Select a person (a client or other) who presents with a problem. B. Introduction: Briefly state your rationale for selecting the person or client. Provide a general brief description of the client, e.g. basic demographic info. Identify and briefly state problem or issue. Provide a narrative biopsychosociospiritual assessment of the individual including the following elements. Location in life cycle (stage of life and current life course events).
Provide detailed biophysical, psychological, social and spiritual developmental systems assessment. (Think about the various determinants of human behavior). In the paper, student should utilize and integrate relevant textbook chapter(s) or other course material. The reading on Ashford et al (2013) (Part of the readings for week 6) shows how a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual assessment is done.
Focus on strengths and resiliencies of individual and his/her family system. Assess social functioning within the biophysical, psychological, social, spiritual framework. Provide a detailed discussion of the client’s/person’s cultural diversity, Discuss the impact of oppression and discrimination on the individual. Link the struggles brought about by historical and current discrimination and oppression to the individual’s specific strengths and resiliencies utilized to overcome these actions.
Discuss how the bio-psycho-social-spiritual and other systems promoted and/or blocked the achievement and maintenance of optimal health. This section is similar to the caseformulation discussed in Ashford et al. (2013). Draw an eco-map (attach it as anappendix).
