Thematic Unit
Overview:
You are to create a thematic unit based on the special education subject matter of that you have not read about in class. This can be blindness, communication, ADHD, TBI, physical disabilities etc. Additionally, You decide the age of the students. You will create one academic subject-based lesson plan for this disability and age. Examples: Art, Science, Social Studies, Music, Math, Literacy, Physical Education etc. Unit Heading

Definition of the disability in your own words, Spectrum of disability. Secondly, Examples of struggles these individuals may have, How many individuals are diagnose-d with this disability, Causes of disability, Tools that can help a student with their disability i.e. hearing aid.
Preparing Classroom Environment
Arrange the classroom so that the disability is clear to those who enter, You can draw it out /or write it out
Library corner booklist (3 books -one should be multicultural), Technology that can be use-d in the classroom to help the child academically,Adaptations you would make if this student was in a regular education class.
