The readings about land use policy suggest that local regulations can affect segregation. Additionally, explain how/why local regulations affect segregation. Also what changes might make local regulations less likely to create/enforce segregation? Social regulations, such as that discussed in the material related to marijuana policy, are adopted for a variety of reasons. Therefore using the material about marijuana policy do you think that the private interest or public interest theory better. Also explains the origins of marijuana policy regulation and its changes over time? If you think the best explanation for the policy differs over time you should provide an explanation for the over-time change.
Environmental regulations can often be justified based on negative externalities. Using the readings about environmental policy discuss at least two negative externalities that are offered as a justification for the discussed environmental policies. Using Shleifer’s enforcement theory of regulation, provide an explanation for why the U.S. adopts the type of environmental regulations it does.
