1. Two students, Peter and Paul, took the same exam.
Peter studied hard and got an A. Paul studied hard but failed the exam. Apply the Lazarus’ appraisal model presented in Figure 6.2 of your textbook to the situation of each student and conclude which emotions they will be feeling. Explain each choice-point (one sentence) on the decision tree.
2. Take a position on the argument about the importance of emotion to reasoning. Descartes thought emotion was second-rate and Damasio argued that it was important. What do you think? Why?
3. When does a behavior become a psychological disorder? What criteria must be satisfied? Provide an example of a specific behavior (such as road rage) and examples of how each criterion could be used.
